FAQ

Q: How can Gruhn Global save my company money on truckload freight?

A: Gruhn Global is a freight broker that utilizes backhaul carriers whenever possible on your domestic truckload freight in order to save you money.  On any of your other freight needs, we can shop your freight to numerous different carriers to seek the best rates possible for our partners.

Q: Is global sourcing a good option for my company?

A: Gruhn Global would be happy to offer a no-pressure consultation to help you to determine an answer to this question, but we can provide you with some framework for that question here.  Any component, sub-assembly or complete product that accounts for at least $50,000 per year is worth reviewing.

Example 1: ABC Corp. buys or builds 50,000 widgets each year at a current cost of $1 per widget.

Example 2: XYZ Corp. buys or builds 1,000 widgets each year at a current cost of $50 per widget.

Both of these instances are worth reviewing to see if sourcing can cut costs or free up your valuable equipment, labor and other resources for other products.

Q: How much can I save by sourcing some of my products overseas?

A: In our experience, we can often save our customers between 15% - 40%, sometimes more.  If we can’t save you at least 10%, in most cases we will recommend that you continue using your current source or connect you with some of our domestic partners who can provide you a quote.

Q: What do I need to do to receive a quotation?

A: Just send us a drawing of the product you wish to have quoted along with all relevant information on the product and your EAU (estimated annual usage).

Q: How long will it take to receive my quote back from Gruhn Global?

A: This can depend on the complexity of the product or project we are quoting and also depends if we already have a factory in our lineup that can meet your needs.  We will always let you know what type of turnaround you can expect, but most basic quotations should be able to be turned around in a few weeks.

Q: Who handles the shipping and logistics if I order from Gruhn Global?

A: All prices will be quoted FOB our warehouse in Iowa.  It is Gruhn Global’s responsibility to cover the ocean freight costs to get your products stateside.

Q: How does Gruhn Global make money?

A: We build a small commission or mark-up into the price we present you in your quotes.  We don’t get paid anything unless you order from us.

Q: Why should I use Gruhn Global’s services instead of seeking an overseas source myself?

A: While some companies may choose to seek their own international relationships, we believe that we can benefit you by leveraging our relationships and our buying power by servicing various domestic companies.  Overseas travel is costly in time resources and money; we can spread tour travel costs across the sales volume of all of our partner companies instead of forcing one company to justify paying the travel expenses.  Another thing to keep in mind is that we can save you money by consolidating shipments and saving ocean freight costs.

Q: Do I have to order a full container or a year’s supply of product all at once if I am sourcing overseas?

A: Gruhn Global will always provide you with two options when ordering your products.  Option #1 will assume you are willing to receive a full shipment (we determine what the size of that shipment is together) of your product once it arrives in the U.S. Option #2 will assume that your company is willing to make a commitment for a shipment of your products, but Gruhn Global will provide warehousing and drop-shipment services as needed throughout the year so you can more effectively manage your inventory and cash.  This added service will cost you more per unit, but customers often feel this service is well worth the slightly higher cost.
